Workers injured in electrocution

Jatni: Two contractual workers engaged in painting work at Khurda Road Railway station here suffered life-threatening burn injuries after coming in contact with a live electric wire Saturday.
The injured duo, Kailash Nayak and Sudarshan Gouda, were first taken to the Railway Hospital here and later shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, the two labourers were colouring an electric pole at platform No 7 of the railway station when the mishap took place.
Sources said electric connection was disconnected from the pole before the colouring work. However, the ladder they were using accidentally came in contact with a electric wire having 25,000 voltages used for running trains, an employee of the contract agency and an engineer of the electricity department said.
On the other hand, some people alleged that the workers get electric shock from the same electric pole they were colouring.
