Khaira: Tension prevailed in this area of Balasore district after a 2-year-old girl died allegedly due to a wrong injection administered by an Ayush doctor.
The deceased was identified as Lipsita, daughter of Balaram Ram of Raigadhia under the Gagandhuli panchayat.
Soon after the child’s death, agitated family members and villagers blocked the Soro-Kupari state highway at Tudigadia Sunday afternoon.
Reports said Lipsita developed a cold and fever Saturday night and was taken by her parents to a private clinic run by Debakant Padhi, an Ayush doctor, at Tudigadia Bazaar. Parents brought her back home after the doctor administered an injection.
However, her condition worsened soon after reaching home, and she was rushed to Soro hospital and later shifted to FM Medical College and Hospital in Balasore, where doctors pronounced her dead.
Police have assured that the doctor will be arrested soon.
