Bhubaneswar: The students of Xavier University, Bhubaneswar, (XUB) continued their stir Wednesday at the varsity campus at Jatni in Khurda district alleging cheating over issuing MBA degree certificates to them. The students launched their stir Tuesday.
Demanding certificates with the Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) logo, the students had Tuesday detained six officials including the Dean and locked the main gate of the institution.
Meanwhile, the parents of the students also joined the stir in the second day Wednesday.
The students alleged that they were promised degrees of the Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, (XIMB) and not of XUB. The XIMB logo is absent in the degree certificates of HRM, RM and SM students also.
“The XIMB logo and name were used extensively right from the advertisement for the XAT-2016 Entrance Test, admission processes, admission bulletin for 2016, payment of fees, welcome address by the VC, issue of student’s identity cards and also in all correspondence, ” a protesting student said.
“Refusing to print the XIMB logo in the MBA degree certificate of the 2016-18 batch is a breach of trust,” he added.
Another student said, “The degree certificate for the 2016-18 batch of HRM, RM and SM students were also issued without the XIMB logo but it is printed in the MBA Degree Certificates of BM students of the same batch. This is discrimination against the 2016-18 batch of students who did HRM, RM and SM.”
Xavier University, Bhubaneswar, (XUB) is a private university established as per the Xavier University Odisha Act, 2013. The Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, (XIMB), is a 30-year old autonomous business management school of Xavier University, and is the flagship of the faculty of management of the same university.
