Bhubaneswar, Jan 30: Several Youth Congress activists Friday staged a demonstration in front of Raj Bhawan here opposing the Land Acquisition Ordinance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government at the Centre.
The Youth Congress members also submitted a memorandum to Governor SC Jamir for immediate withdrawal of the Ordinance. Earlier, the youth workers took out a huge rally from the Congress Bhawan at Master Canteen here. The rally culminated at Governors house where the workers staged a demonstration and termed the Central ordinance ‘Draconian’.
Leaders including the Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief Prasad Harichandan and Congress deputy in-charge Subhankar Sarkar participated in the rally.Some of the protesters submitted a memorandum to Governor SC Jamir demanding immediate withdrawal of the Ordinance. A few members submitted a copy of the memorandum to Khurda district sub-collector.
