Kendrapara: An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an 18-year-old youth in Kanwarpur village under Aul police station Thursday night. Police arrested the accused, said Maheswar Sethy, IIC of Aul police station.
Sethy said the accused, a resident of Balipatana, went to attend a feast at a religious function Thursday night organised at the house of a distant relative in Kanwarpur.
After the feast, he allegedly lured the girl to the roof of the building offering her to show a video game on his mobile phone. Later, he allegedly raped the girl, Sethy said.
The girl narrated the incident to her parents. The father of the survivor lodged an FIR at Aul police station. Police registered a case and arrested the accused.
Both the survivor and the accused were sent for medical examination to Aul CHC. The accused is going to be produced in a court Saturday. Police would present the survivor also in the court to record her statement.
Meanwhile, Aul police has asked the parents of the arrested youth to submit documents to prove his age as his family claimed that he was a minor.
