Manoj claimed that a certain Chhotelal Mohanta, who tested positive for COVID-19, had visited the palace and hence must have been in close contact with the royals.

After Manoj accused the police and administration for not taking any action, a palace staff named Anup Kumar Pattanayak filed a case against him. Pattanayak also clarified that no BJP leader had come for a last glimpse or attended the funeral ceremony.
