Khurda: A youth allegedly attacked Bolagarh tehsildar here Thursday, when he was conducting raid on an illegal murram quarry under this tehsil limits in Khurda district. Later, acting on FIR lodged by Bolagarh tehsildar Dhobei Nayak at Begunia police station, the youth was arrested. Nayak and his team were conducting the raid on illegal murram quarry at Gopalpur village under Pichukuli panchayat in the morning when the incident happened.

Police have seized two tractors including a JCB machine that were being allegedly used for excavation of murram at the illegal quarry here.
Begunia police has registered a case in this connection and launched a detailed probe. Others involved in this illegal quarrying activity will also be arrested soon, they said. However, they did not give any details about those under scanner as investigations are still on.
Notably, illegal quarrying activities have become rampant in the Bolagarh locality. Murram is are also used in this area to fill up the land.
