Bhubaneswar, April 26: The youth of the city decided to beat the heat and make merry by participating in the Aqua Splash Rain Bash, organised by INX Entertainments Sunday to woo the younger generation.
The event at Janata Maidan, which included a variety of programmes ranging from a rain dance to stage performances, even saw DJs working the turntables groups of friends thronged the site.
Foodies were also not left out as various stalls offering different items had been put up to add to the spice of the weekend.
The rain dance, which was the most popular event, was arranged at the centre of the site with the assistance of water tanks and sprinklers.
DJs working the turntables also enthralled the visitors with the music making the ambience livelier. Several live performances on stage added to the lure of the evening.
“I learnt about the event through the Internet and was eagerly waiting for Sunday. It was worth coming to such an exciting event with the venue full of youth. I loved taking part in the rain dance, which was the centre of attraction,” said Malvika Banerjee, a 2nd year engineering student from KIIT.
“It is really a fascinating event. There are so many options for us. People with different interests can enjoy the evening. I loved the musical performances, which prompted us to dance with our friends,” said Deepak Mishra, a BTech student at IIIT.
The food stalls gave the extra edge to the evening by providing those not keen on dancing a chance to enjoy. “I am not very comfortable with dancing. I came with my friends and enjoyed the stage performances. I enjoyed having some snacks while most of my friends danced,” said Anjana Mohanty, a banking professional from the city.
“The main aim of the event was to bring together the youth of the city and give them an opportunity to enjoy the weekend. We are overwhelmed with the response we have got. We have made elaborate arrangements to meet the requirements and taste of the youth from the city,” said Suchismita Mishra, the organiser of the event.
