Bhubaneswar: Odisha Pradesh Youth Congress launched a door-to-door ‘Stop Vote Chori’ campaign Saturday to educate voters about their rolls and raise awareness about alleged discrepancies in the voting process.
At a press conference at Congress Bhawan here, state Youth Congress president Ranjit Patra, former Lok Sabha candidate Yashir Nawaz, and others raised concerns over widespread vote theft allegations in Odisha and across the country.
On the occasion, Youth Congress released a ‘Stop Vote Theft’ poster campaign, displaying the posters on vehicles outside the party office to raise public awareness.
Addressing reporters, Patra said that if questions on vote theft are being directed at the Election Commission, why is the BJP getting so uneasy? “It is evident that before the 2024 elections, a major deal was struck between the BJP and the Election Commission, resulting in large-scale and shocking vote manipulation.
The present governments at the Centre and in Odisha are not truly elected governments but products of stolen votes,” he alleged.
Patra further announced that to promote Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s revelations on vote theft from cities to rural areas, the Youth Congress will organise roadside meetings and distribute leaflets exposing the issue.
Speaking on the occasion, former state Youth Congress president Yasir Nawaz said, “The Election Commission has failed to respond to the serious questions raised by the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. Instead, attempts are being made to threaten him with court cases, while BJP leaders are trying to divert attention by dragging irrelevant issues, sometimes blaming Nehru, sometimes hurling abuses at Rahul Gandhi.”
The Youth Congress demanded that all information sought by Rahul Gandhi from the Election Commission must be made public immediately and accused the ruling party of conspiring to destroy crucial evidence.
They warned of continuous agitation against what they termed the “criminal nexus” between the BJP and the Election Commission.
