Basta: A 22-year-old youth died due to electrocution at Mahadevsarai village under this police limits in Balasore district, Thursday evening.
Sources said, Subham, son of Narayan Sahu, was pursuing his higher education at Bhubaneswar. He had come to his village to spend the summer vacation. His father bought a laptop for him, Thursday. Sometime during the afternoon he was electrocuted while trying to connect the laptop to the switch board.
Family members found him lying on the floor unconscious and immediately rushed him to the Basta government hospital. However, he succumbed in the evening even though the doctors tried their best to save him.
Subham was a bright student and once the news of his demise reached the village, a pall of gloom descended on it.
