Nimapara: A 22-year-old youth was found hanging from the ceiling of his room at Sethisahi in Andiasahi village here Monday morning.
On being alerted, police reached the spot and recovered the body. The deceased was identified as Smruti Bikash Sethy. The police have sent his body to Charichhak healthcare facility for autopsy.
“On the basis of a complaint lodged by Sethy’s friend, Himalaya Bastia, a case (19/18) of unnatural death has been registered,” a Nimapara police official said, adding that further action will be taken as per the post-mortem report.
Sethy must have taken the extreme step late Sunday night, the official said.
“We grew suspicious as our knocks at the door went unanswered. So we informed the police. Police rushed to the spot and broke into the room. They found Sethy hanging from the ceiling,” one of Sethy’s neighbours said, adding that they were perplexed as to why he had commited suicide.
