Koraput: A tragic road accident at Kala Niketan Square in Koraput town claimed the life of a young man late Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Sheikh Pintu Babu of Nehru Nagar.
Sources said, Sheikh, who was riding a motorcycle, collided with another biker approaching from the opposite direction around 10pm.
“Pintu was returning home when the mishap occurred. On spotting the speeding bike near the busy square, he tried to avoid a head-on collision by applying sudden brakes. However, he lost control of his vehicle due to the crash and fell on the road,” Koraput Town police station IIC Satyananda Patra said.

The fall caused a serious head injury, leading to profuse bleeding. Locals immediately rushed him to Sahid Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead. The incident has sent shockwaves across the local community.
CCTV footage from a nearby establishment capturing the collision has gone viral on social media, triggering widespread discussion on rash driving, helmet use, and traffic discipline.
Police have registered a case and are analysing the CCTV footage for further investigation. Meanwhile, residents have urged authorities to enforce stricter traffic regulations at Kala Niketan Square and other busy junctions to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
