Jagatsinghpur: A youth sustained critical injuries after he was shot at by some unidentified miscreants near Chapada Railway Station under Tirtol police limits in Jagatsinghpur district Friday evening.
He has been identified as Sameer Das of Chapada village.
According to reports, some unidentified miscreants reached Chapada Bazaar and hurled crude bombs on the spot following which people ran helter-skelter in fear.
When Sameer was running for his life, one of the miscreants opened fire at him and one bullet hit his right thigh.
The miscreants fled the spot soon after committing the crime.
Some locals rushed Sameer to the district hospital but he was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital as his condition worsened.
Though the exact reason behind the incident is not yet known, it suspected that Sameer was attacked over past enmity.
Meanwhile, police reached the spot and started an investigation.
