Sambalpur: A youth was stabbed to death and his friend was seriously injured as some youths attacked them at Sunapali under Dhanupali police limits in Sambalpur district Sunday.
The deceased and injured have been identified as Banke Oram and Laba Oram respectively, residents of the Saralakani area.
According to a source, Banke and Laba had gone to Sunapali for some work. There they had a quarrel with some youths because of a yet to be ascertained reason. In no time, the quarrel snowballed into a group clash. The youths attacked the duo with sharp weapons. They killed Banke on the spot.
Laba somehow managed to escape from the spot and reached his village Saralakani. His family members immediately rushed him to Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). He is undergoing treatment there.
On being informed, a team from Dhanupali police station reached the spot and recovered the body for post mortem.
They have initiated a detailed probe into the incident, it was learnt.
