Bhadrak: A youth was tied to a tree and thrashed black and blue for allegedly passing lewd comments at a girl in Langudi area here in Bhadrak district Friday.
Sources said, the incident occurred while the girl was on her way for tuition classes. Meanwhile, the youth, believed to be on a one-sided love with the girl, intercepted her and passed objectionable comments on her.
The girl somehow managed to return home and narrated her ordeal to her parents who then nabbed him and tied to a tree. He was then beaten by the youths and women of the village. Villagers even garlanded him with slippers and threatened with dire consequences if he did not mend his ways.
After getting information, police reached the village and rescued the youth. He was then let go after a warning, it was learnt.
