Koraput: The discovery of a mutilated body of a 30-year-old man near a hill here Sunday, with his motorcycle abandoned by the roadside, has prompted a police probe.
The deceased has been identified as Ante Mali of Mali Talagaon under the Podagada panchayat.
Local villagers grew suspicious after spotting the unattended motorcycle near Ponshaput-Banshguda Chowk Sunday.
On searching the area, they found Mali’s body lying in a ditch nearby and alerted the Dumuriput police.

A police team led by Satyananda Patra, Inspector-In-Charge of Koraput Town Police Station, reached the spot with a scientific team and a sniffer dog squad.
The body, bearing multiple injuries, was sent to SLN Medical College & Hospital for post-mortem.
Mali had reportedly gone to Dumuriput Saturday for work and did not return. His family has alleged foul play and suspected prior enmity as the reason behind the murder.
Police have assured a thorough investigation, stating that all angles are being explored and the cause of death will be determined after the autopsy.
The incident has sparked concern among locals, who are calling for a transparent probe and swift action against those responsible.
