Baripada: The voting for by-poll in Zilla Parishad zone no-32 at Bijatala block started Thursday 7 am.
A large number of voters were seen waiting in long queues in front of 82 booths across five panchayats.
A total of 23,119 voters from five panchayats –Bijatala, Mundathakura, Banakati, Raihari and Luhasila — will exercise their franchise.
The district administration and police have taken ample security measurements for smooth polling.
Out of 82 booths, 10 booths have been declared as highly sensitive while 48 have been termed sensitive.
The seat has been lying vacant after the death of BJP-supported member Chhotray Murmu in January.
