Deogarh: A six-hour Deogarh bandh call by the district unit of Congress has paralysed normal life Friday.
Protesting the anti-poor and anti-tribal policies of the state government, the Congress has demanded homestead land for the landless and forest land patta for tribals.
While government offices and educational institutions remained closed, vehicular movement was off the road. The bandh which began at 6 am is scheduled to end at 12 pm. However, shops and other business establishments remained opened due to an exemption given to those by the bandh supporters.
Party workers and leaders staged a blockade on the Mumbai-Kolkata National Highway while some workers picketed at the Old Post Office Square.
