Cuttack, Dec 28: Sprint queen of Orissa Dutee Chand made a comeback to the track and field Sunday after a long gap and had a fruitful day as she won the girls’ (U-20) 100-metre event with the timing of 12.01 seconds on the first day of the 62nd Orissa State Athletic Meet at the Barabati Stadium here.
Although the timing was below her best 11.08 seconds recorded in the 2013 State Athletic meet, Dutee expressed confidence that the timings would improve as she has ‘returned.’ “I will prepare hard and do well in the National Games,” she said.
In other events, several state level records were made by athletes during the day. Sushanta Sember Loka registered new record of 2:41.7 seconds in the 1000- metre U-16 boys’ event, while in the U-18 girls’ shotput, Salmi Kispotta set 11.38 metre record.

Basanti Hansda (shotput, girls’ U-14): 7.58 metre
Carmela Barla (javellin, girls’ U-18): 41.07 metre
Latika Basara (high jump, girls’ U-20): 1.57 metre
