Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Monday said that action would be taken against those involved in the vandalism at the official residence of his private secretary VK Pandian.
Patnaik gave the assurance to the government employees and organisations after they met him during the day.
“Associations from all over the state have given me petitions regarding the unfortunate incident. Appropriate action will be taken,” Patnaik told reporters.
Associations of IAS, OAS, OPS, OFS, OIS among others met the Chief Minister and the chief secretary demanding stringent action against those involved in the vandalism at the official residence premises of the Chief Minister’s private secretary.
The associations also urged for steps to be taken to avoid reoccurrences of such incident in future. They alleged that a group of miscreants holding BJP flag had barged into the official residence of the IAS officer and damaged flower pots and vehicles parked inside the quarters on Saturday last.
The miscreants also hurled cow dungs and stones at his residence, they alleged. The police have arrested four persons in this connection. IAS association secretary Vishal Dev said the association expressed anger, anguish and grief over the unfortunate incident that took place Saturday and demanded proper security for government employees to help them do their job properly.
The police officials who met the chief minister said that they have also urged the state government to immediately frame necessary guidelines to provide security cover to government officials and deal appropriately with such incidents.
