Puri: A married woman was found lying in a pool of blood at her residence in Railways’ quarters under Sea Beach police limits here Monday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Sujata Sahu, 47. Husband of the deceased suspects that Sujata was murdered and the alleged crime was carried out by one of his errant staff.
On being informed, police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Puri for post-mortem.
On the basis of a complaint registered by the deceased’s husband Sanjib Kumar Sahu, police have registered a case.
Sahu, who hailed from Baripada, has been working with the Railways as chief assistant medical superintendent (SCMS) for the last five years.
According to sources, as usual, the couple’s son Subham went to school early morning Monday. Sanjib had filed a complaint at the electricity office and so two electricians arrived at around 9:30 am at their house to address the issue. Sources added that the two electricians left the house 10 minutes after Sanjib left for office.
The husband returned home at around 1.00 pm and found the main gate to be closed. “That’s why I had to jump over the fence to enter the premises,” Sanjib said. Upon entering, Sanjib and his son, who arrived from school by then, discovered Sujata lying in a pool of blood, sources said.
When asked if he had any past enmity, Sahu said he has no such issues. However, he mentioned that recently he had a quarrel with a nurse in the hospital. “I suspect that the nurse and her husband have murdered my wife,” Sanjib said.
SP Sarthak Sarangi said they are investigating into the matter.
