Bhubaneswar, Nov 25: ‘Z Estate’ emerged champions, while SRB finished runners-up in the two-day Corporate Cup Golf Championships, which concluded at the Bhubaneswar Golf Course recently.
On the second and the final day of the event played Sunday, ‘Z Estate’ comprising the father-son duo of Tapan Mohanty and Satyajyoti Mohanty bagged top honours with 131 points. Rajeev Sahoo and JN Ratha of SRB scored 129 points to finish second.
Playing in the men’s segment, Lakhi Swain emerged champion in the 19-24 handicap event with a score of 40. SK Bhaina (32) stood second while Prasant Mourya (25) secured the third position. However Prasant bagged the ‘best gross’ award and Oscar Dung Dung was chosen for a special award. Lakhi also emerged the best golfer in the women’s category.
The tournament was played over 18 holes (Stable-fold format).
AK Beura bagged the best outstation player award.
Taekwondo event
Orissa Taekwondo Association will organise the 35th National Senior Taekwondo Championships at JN Indoor Stadium, Cuttack, December 16-18. Approximately 1,000 athletes, 200 team officials and 90 technical officers will take part in the meet, which will be organised under the aegis of Taekwondo Federation of India.
Impressive feat
Chinmay Pradhan of Orissa became the first tennis player from the state Wednesday to obtain ranking points in doubles. Chinmay and his partner Sidharth Viswakarma defeated SK Abdullah and Hardeep Singh 6-1, 3-6, 10-6 to enter the semifinals of the Gondwana Cup ITF Futures tournament in Raipur. By virtue of entering the semifinals, both players got six ITF points each.
