Keonjhar: With medical wastes including bandage clothes and discarded syringes lying all over the campus of Keonjhar district headquarters hospital, patients are under the threat of getting affected by various diseases, a report said.
Though there are machines at the hospital to segregate medical wastes and destroy discarded bottles and needles, none of them are in a working condition now.
Locals said they often witnessed stray dogs carrying blood soaked clothes from the hospital premises.
Regional Pollution Control Board officer Pushkar Behera said the hospital has been asked to come up with a bio medical waste management plant. “An inspection will be carried out and action taken accordingly,” he said.
