Cuttack: Admitting a batch of petitions alleging violation of reservation rules in appointment of sikshya sahayaks in 2012, the Orissa High Court Friday directed Bargarh district administration to take a decision afresh in this regard.
Petitioners Dharmaraj Mohapatra and others had moved the court in 2013 alleging that sikshya sahayaks were appointed in Bargarh and Padmapur educational districts in violation of Supreme Court guidelines which said the total reservation should not exceed 50 per cent of the posts. The final list of sikshya sahayaks was published November 9, 2012.
The petitioners informed the High Court that many eligible candidates were deprived of the jobs due to the violation of apex court ruling in the recruitment process. The petitioners contended that out of 135 posts, 67 posts should have been reserved for general category candidates. However, only 31 posts were reserved for the category.
A single judge bench of Justice SN Prasad directed the Bargarh collector and Zilla Parishad executive officer to take a decision afresh over the matter.
As per the education policy earlier, sikshya sahayaks were appointed through Zilla Parishad.
