A building weighting 3.62 lakh kilogram of a Maryland family transported their house from Easton to Queenstown on a large boat. Actually, this building is a historic mansion, which was 259 years old mansion built in the year 1760, even before the American War of Independence.
About $1 million have been spent for shifting this mansion named Galloway Manson from one place to another. This three-storey mansion owner’s name is Christian Neeley.
According to Christian Neeley, preparations to shift this mansion have been going on since two years.
Shifting took a total of two weeks. It was first towed by a 150-wheel robotic truck to Queenstown harbor and then loaded onto a barge for 80 kilometres away.
It took less than 24 hours for the historic structure to finally arrive at its new destination in Queenstown.
Christian Neely said that the cost to build a new house in a new place would have been too much and perhaps it would not have been possible to build such a house. So they thought it better to take their old and historical mansion with them.
Meanwhile, Christian revealed he is planning on renovating the home and adding an extension — which will cost another $1 million.
The house was meant to last more than centuries, and the family says they want it to become an estate for future generations.
