Bhubaneswar: In a seminar on safety and security of schoolchildren organised by Confederation of Odisha Public Schools here Sunday, 10 schools of the city were awarded under different categories.
While Mother’s Public School won the award for ‘Best Day Boarding School’, ‘Best Quality School’ award was given away to Buxi Jagabandhu English Medium (BJEM) School.
St Xaviers International School won the ‘Best Promising school’ award and the ‘Best Pre-School’ award was given to SAI Angan School.
ODM public school bagged the ‘Best Residential school’ award while DAV School Chandrasekharpur won the ‘Best Disciplined School’ award.
‘Best Innovative School’ award was bagged by Takshila School, while the ‘Best economy school’ award was clinched by MBS Public school.
Similarly, ‘Best Culture School’ award was won by Shiksha Vikash Samiti and the ‘Best Innovative Digital Education’ award was given to DIGICHAMPS. Secretary of department of school education and literacy under the union ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Anil Swarup, was present at the seminar. In his address, he focused on the importance of parents and schools in controlling the children from stress which triggers suicidal thoughts.
He said, “Many cases were found where due to failure in getting good marks in the exam the students had committed suicide.”
“The students sometime lack the emotional and psychological strength to handle such failures which led them to commit suicide,” he added.
Among others Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Surya Narayan Patro and Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Minister Prafulla Samal were present at the event.
A handbook on child safety and security written by Satyabrat Minaketan, founder of ODM public school, was released by the guests.
