Khurda: A 10-year-old girl of Chanagiri in Jankia police limits here died when a wall collapsed on her Thursday.
The deceased, a Class IV student, was identified as Pragyan Priyadarshini Mohanty of Rangatota Mohanty Sahi in Gop was residing with her relatives here.
The minor girl had gone to the backyard of the house around 6pm when a rain-soaked wall caved in on her. After hearing a thud, the victim’s relatives rushed to the spot to find a profusely bleeding Mohanty under the debris of the wall.
She was later rushed to the district headquarters hospital where doctors pronounced her brought dead. “A case (8/18) of unnatural death has been registered and the body was handed over to the victim’s family after an autopsy,” a Jankia police official said, adding that they are waiting for the post-mortem report for further action.
