Tensa: A dawn to dusk bandh at Banai Thursday paralysed normal life here. Banai Action Committee has given the bandh call demanding district status to Banai in Sundargarh district.
Vehicular movement was off the road as the agitators staged road blockades at strategic points. All the educational institutions remained closed. Business houses downed their shutters. However, emergency services like ambulance were kept out of the bandh’s purview, informed the action committee.
The local residents also extended their support for the bandh.
The bandh was observed by locals and political leaders across party lines at places including Banai, Lahunipada, Koira, Gurundia, Rajamunda, Barsua, Kalta, Bimalgarh, Jodanda, Chandiposh, Narendra, Tuniapali and Kaleipas.
