Koraput: Fifteen wagons loaded with alumina powder belonging to Nalco derailed at Damanjodi station Sunday.
The loaded wagons were being drawn out of the Nalco railway siding. An accident relief train has been ordered from Koraput. According to sources, it is expected that the 15 wagons would be re-railed by early Monday morning. Senior officials from Visakhapatnam and Rayagada have rushed to the site.
The incident occurred around 16:20 hrs and there is no casualty reported, while ADRM of Waltair railway division, KD Rao, has left for Damanjodi from Visakhapatnam.
As a result of the derailment, the 18107 Koraput-Rourkela Express has been cancelled. The 18005 Samaleswari Express towards Jagadalpur has been detained at Laxmipur Road station.
The 18448 Hirakhand Express will run via diverted route of Koraput-Araku- Kottavalsa-Vizianagaram, while the 58301 Sambalpur -Koraput passenger has been short terminated at Rayagada.
