Kendrapara: A 16-year old girl was allegedly gangraped by three youths after the trio picked her up from her house under Aul police limits in this district, a report said Tuesday.
The matter came to fore after the victim’s grandfather lodged a verbal complaint in the Aul police station Tuesday.
According to family members the girl went to sleep after dinner Sunday night but was found missing from house when the family members woke up at 3.30 am.
Worried the girl’s grandfather informed the police about her missing Monday on which police registered a case.
Later, the victim’s grandfather informed the police Tuesday that the three accused gagged the girl and picked her up from house before taking turns on her.
Later, they left her at nearby Singhpur Bazaar in adjoining Jajpur district Monday evening and fled.
On being informed, family members rescued the girl and brought her back home, the victim’s grandfather informed the police Tuesday.
When contacted, Pattamundai SDPO Uma Shankar Moharana said that the victim’s family members had intially lodged only a missing complaint on which police started a probe.
The victim’s family members are yet to lodge a written complaint on gangrape. Meanwhile, police recorded the statement of the victim.
