Cuttack: Two persons were arrested on charges of gunrunning here Sunday, a senior Cuttack Sadar police official said.
The accused were identified as Sk Fehmid (29) and Sk Rahim (32), both residents of Kajimahala in Jagartsinghpur district. A case (481/18) has been registered under Sections 25 and 26 of Arms Act, the official added.
According to the official, the duo was active in smuggling of arms in Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara districts. About the crackdown, the official said they got the tiff off about the duo while interrogating gangster Papu and his wife who were arrested a few days back. A pistol and a few live ammunitions were seized from the couple. “The couple confessed to have procured the arms and ammunitions from Fehmid and Rahim,” the official claimed, adding that the duo had also been supplying arms and ammunitions to gangster Sudhir.
