Baliguda: The police arrested two persons on the charges murder and gangrape of two women in Baliguda in Kandhamal district.
The accused were identified as Arjun Bagh and Rujit Behera of Nuasahi under Baliguda police limits. They were arrested over two separate cases registered in their names in the police station, police said. They were produced in a court after they admitted to their crime during interrogation. Further investigations are on, a police officer said.
Police said the accused first beat up a man Pankaj Bindhani to death and later took turns on his wife at Crusher Unit Sahi near Guibali January 25 late night.
Later, they came back and barged into the house of a destitute woman the same night and took turns on her before absconding.
Baliguda police registered two cases over separate complaints and started an investigation. Two special teams formed comprising SIs Srikant Khamari, Ashrita Xalco, ASIs Sudhir Digal, Jaychandra Behera and other police personnel launched a search operation to nab the offenders. The twin teams after two days of hard work traced the accused and arrested them.
