Odagaon: Police Wednesday busted the murder mystery of Sudam Swain and arrested main accused Prakash Behera (19) along with his aide Litu Pradhan (21) from Kerala while two others are still absconding. The duo confessed to have committed the crime before the police. Police had earlier arrested Bipin Sahu (30) of Nandhighar village and Basanti Pradhan (30) of Durgaprasad village.
According to police, Prakash had gone to witness ‘danda’ festival organised in Sudam’s village. He met a relative and had a conversation with her. Meanwhile, the woman’s husband and Sudam spotted the duo and suspected them.
They tied Prakash to a pole in the village and subsequently assaulted him in full public view. Insulted by the act, Litu plotted a plan to avenge the insult. He convinced Basanti to trap Sudam and call him to an isolated place. He proposed to pay Rs 10,000 to Basanti.
Later, as per a plan, Prakash along with his aides attacked Sudam after he came to meet Basanti. They later dumped his body and fled from the spot.
A case was registered and the duo was produced in court. They were later remanded in judicial custody after their bail plea was rejected, investigating officer Ramchandra Sahu said. Further investigation into the matter is on. We will arrest the two absconders soon, Sahu added. PNN
