Angul/Soro: At least two persons were killed and an equal number sustained injuries in separate road mishaps in the state since last night.
In the first instance, three youths critically injured after the bike in which they were travelling hit a bridge wall near Jamujhadi on NH-16 in Balasore district last night.
The injured were rushed to Simulia Community Health Centre (CHC) where one of them died named Bijesh Moharana of Oupada Daripokhari village.
According to reports, the trio was returning after attending a function in Jamujhadi area when the tragedy occurred.
In another accident Saturday, a morning walker was killed after being mowed down by an unidentified vehicle near Bimalbeda on NH-55 near Jarpada in Angul district.
The deceased has been identified as Chandan Pradhan.
Meanwhile, irate locals staged a road blockade on the highway demanding compensation to the victim’s kin.
Police later reached the spot and sent the body for autopsy.
