Chhatrapur: NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) has selected 23 high schools in Ganjam district for the establishment of Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) in its innovation-driven programme for students.
The selected schools will receive a grant of Rs 20 lakh each spread over the next five years to nurture innovation and entrepreneurial spirit among secondary schoolchildren.
Under the scheme, the high schools will get modern labs to expose children to tinkering, innovation and providing access to technologies like 3D Printing, Robotics, IoT (Internet of Things) and microprocessors.
The ATLs will function as innovation hubs for students to explore solutions to unique local problems which they come across in their day-to-day lives.
The objective of the programme is to strengthen entrepreneurship and innovation in students and budding innovators in the field of technology and science. The programme will provide education as well as self training by hosting various competitions, workshops and science fairs regularly to entice students towards inventions and help them in nurturing their talent. The main focus is to enhance the skills of students in language, designs and thinking.
Among the selected schools are: Onslow Institution, Chhatrapur; Burupada Bhagabati Vidya Pitha; Hinjili Brundaban Vidya Pitha; DB Government Girls’ High School; Belguntha GT High School; Government Galeri High School; Chhatrapur Government Girls High School; Merikot Government UG High School; Gyanabikash Junior College; Harihar High School; Surangi Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidyalaya; Nehru High School; Sankalp Senior Secondary School; Digapahandi Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir; Sashi Bhusan High School; Khallikote Sri Aurobindo School and Bhanjanagar UB High School.
