Nuapada: In a tragic incident, three youths met watery grave after a motorbike, they were travelling in, skidded off the road and fell into a nullah below an under-construction bridge near Durlimunda village under Joka police limits, late Tuesday night.
Locals spotted the bodies floating in the nullah, Wednesday morning and alerted the cops. The bodies were seized and sent for autopsy while a probe was launched.
Sources said, the youths are from Khaliapani village in Nuapada district. The identity of the deceased trio is yet to be ascertained.
The incident occurred while the three friends were returning to their houses after witnessing Dhanu Yatra, Tuesday night. The vehicle slipped into the nullah after the rider lost balance on the wheels.
This spread outrage among the locals who blamed the contractor for leaving the road half-constructed in a risky manner. They blocked the Padmapur-Nuapada road, demanding immediate compensation for the kin of the deceased.
