Cuttack Sadar: Three persons, including two women, sustained critical injuries after the auto-rickshaw they were travelling in was hit by a truck from the rear near Kandarpur fuel station on Cuttack-Paradip Road here Thursday.
On being informed, Kandarpur police reached the spot and recovered the mangled auto-rickshaw as well as the bus.
Sources said passers-by rushed Priyambada Sahu, a teacher at Saraswati Sishu Vidyamandir in Kandarpur, Sadhu Lenka of Damodarpur and another woman whose identity is yet to be ascertained, to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
According to eyewitnesses, one of the front tyres of the Cuttack-bound truck (OR-02-AD-3667) busted following which the driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed into the passenger- laden auto-rickshaw (OD-05-W-1307).
