Parlakhemundi: Sadar police managed to arrest three inter-state looters from Andhra Pradesh and seized 19 mobile phones, a laptop, a motorcycle and Rs 9,000 from their possession, SDPO Thakur Prasad Patra told media persons Thursday at the local police station.
The accused were identified as S Suram (23) of Gulumeta village, S Rabi (20) of Dusmanguda village and S Sulman of Ambharupali village.
According to police sources, the miscreants had looted the mobile phones from the shop of Seemanchal Sahu March 17, 2018 night. Similarly, the gang also had looted mobile phones and cash from the shop of M. Laxman Murmu and had involvement in many such cases in the area a few days back.
Based on the complaints lodged by the shop owners, police registered a case and formed a special team to arrest the looters. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the three from Hiramandalam area under Srikakulam district of the neighbouring state.
While the miscreants had looted 29 mobiles, police could only recover 19 mobile while the miscreants had sold out the remaining 10 phones, it was learnt.
Police suspect involvement of many more in the loot cases and a manhunt has been launched to nab them, IIC Babuli Nayak said at the press meet.
