Sambalpur: As many as three truck drivers sustained grievous injuries late Friday night in a murderous attack by some unidentified miscreants during a loot bid on national highway (NH-55) near Sadhumunda area of Rairakhol in Sambalpur, a police official said.
According to sources, some miscreants had been stopping vehicles which were passing on the NH-55. Some truck drivers faced brutal attacks by the looters when they did not stop the vehicles at the latter’s sweet will. Getting irked, the miscreants pelted stones.

After being chased by the looters, the truck drivers had to halt their vehicles, but fortunately they could manage to escape from the spot. However, the drivers became critical in the stone pelting incident.
On the other hand, many local residents including the three truck drivers staged a roadblock on the NH-55 demanding immediate police action against the miscreants. Later, a team of policemen arrived at the spot and assured the agitators soon.
The three injured drivers were shifted in critical condition to a hospital at Rairakhol for treatment, the local police official informed.
