Cuttack, Dec 11: Authorities of the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Birthplace Museum at Oriya Bazaar have made special plans to woo visitors with the birth anniversary of the leader little more than a month away.
The authorities plan to install 32 close circuit television (CCTV) cameras and release ‘Subhas Chandra ra Antardhyan Kahani’, which tells the story of Netaji’s miraculous escape, said museum caretaker Jyotiprakash Das.
Four galleries would get a facelift and a green house will be inaugurated to mark the birth anniversary of the legend January 23 this year, said Das. Sources said museum authorities have earmarked `4 lakh for installation 32 CCTV cameras at galleries, the library, media room, office, entrance gates, park and ticket counters as part of measures to protect the museum from anti-social elements. The authorities have set December 31 as the deadline to complete the projects.
Noted filmmaker Gopal Ghosh had earlier donated two books — ‘Subhas Chandra ra Antardhyan Kahani’ and Netaji’s autobiography ‘Bharat Pathik’ — to the trust. The Orissa Sahitya Akademi was roped in to translate these books into Oriya. The Oriya version of ‘Bharat Pathik’ was released on Netaji’s birth anniversary last year and authorities plan to release ‘Subhas Chandra ra Antardhyan Kahani’ this year on the same occasion.
‘Subhas Chandra ra Antardhyan Kahani’ depicts the sudden disappearance of Netaji, who had left home January 16, 1941. He had reached Kabul January 29, 1941, and spent 45 days at Uttam Chand’s house before leaving for Berlin via Peshwar. This book would help readers know the legend’s life more closely, said Das.
The museum authorities have decided to come up with a green house at a cost of `1.5 lakh in view of Bose’s love for animals and trees. The authorities have also decided to give a facelift to four galleries, with the archaeological department providing funds for the renovation of the galleries, museum sources said.
