4 hardcore Maoists surrender in Bonai

Rourkela, Jan 18: Four hardcore Maoist cadres, including a woman, surrendered before additional superintendent of police (Bonai) Radhavinod Panigrahi Sunday.

They were identified as Johan Munda (25), Joseph Tarkat (30), Johan Purty (45) and Sunita Munda (22). Joseph and Johan Purty belong to Kaladiha in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. Johan Munda is a resident of Sanbalijore under K Balang police station in Sundargarh district, while Sunita is a resident of Mohara under Chandiposh police station in the district.

Johan Munda was involved in many incidents like the explosion at a school building in Sanbalijore and blowing up of panchayat office and a godown at Relhatu. He joined the Maoist fold in 2009. Joseph and Johan Purty joined the banned outfit in 2007 and were involved in several Maoist offensives in Torha and Kalta.

Sunita was motivated by her brother-in-law Nepali Munda to join the ultras in 2010. She was involved in the blast at Rangamatia block office.
