Kendrapara: Four members of a family were critically injured in an attack by robbers in Bharatpur village of Kendrapara district Thursday night.
The incident occurred late Thursday night when at least five armed robbers broke into Hadibandhu Sahu’s home and looted valuable ornaments and jewellery. When the family members resisted, the robbers attacked them rendering them critical. The injured included Hadibandhu, 72, Bhagabat, 62, Urmila, 38 and Basudev, 40.
While the robbers fled the scene, the injured screamed for help. Locals rushed them to Aul hospital for treatment. They were later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after their condition deteriorated.
The robbers also looted from Alekh Sahu’s house in the same locality. Meanwhile, cops have launched a probe into the matter.
Villagers held protests and blocked Cuttack-Chandabali road. They called off the strike after police assured them for a fair probe.
