Bargarh: Police cracked the kidnap case of Bheden block chairperson’s husband by arresting five persons including the victim’s brother-in-law Sunday.
Prime accused Debanand Pradhan of Jamutpali village under Gaisliet police station in this district is the brother of Bheden block chairperson Sujata Pradhan and the brother-in-law of Antaryami Pradhan, said SP B Jugal Kishore while addressing a press meet at the SDPO office here.
Debanand kidnapped Antaryami as he was of the belief that the latter had received eight kg of gold biscuits from his father-in-law after the marriage with Sujata. He wanted to have a share of the gold for which he kidnapped his brother-in-law, the police said.
The other four accused are Nandi Naik alias Chhotu (24) of Bhalupalli village under Binka police limits in Sonepur district, Sibashankar Khasma (23) alias Ipun and Dushmant Pujari (28) alias Ashok of Kandola under Koksara police limits in Kalahandi district and Santosh Sahu (30) alias Biswapati of Kendubhata village under Gaisilet police limits in Bargarh district.
Meanwhile, one of the prime accused Mahesh alias Prem alias Abhisek of Ambadola in Rayagada district shot himself dead when police raided Gangasagar village under Patnagarh police limits in Bolangir district.
A car, the licensed pistol of Antaryami, two other guns, a toy pistol, chloroform, tranqulisers, a compass, mobile phones, ATM cards, `6,000 in cash and several SIM cards were seized from the accused during their arrest, police said, adding further investigation is on. PNN
