Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Monday urged Wipro chief Azim Premji to invest in various sectors across the state including IT and health.
In a meeting with Premji at the state secretariat here, Patnaik requested him to set up a global training centre on Puri-Konark Marine drive, land for which has been identified.
He also proposed to the Wipro chief to extend the present centre at lnfocity and consider investing in the state’s education sector. The chief minister also suggested that Wipro become a partner in the setting up of another triple IIIT at an investment of `128crore in PPP mode and take the initiative of making the Capital city hub of Eastern India for IT and consulting activities.
Patnaik said Wipro may consider setting up its second campus at Info Valley, and assured him that the required land would be provided.
During the discussion, Patnaik proposed Wipro-GE Health Care to consider the state government’s proposal to set up its healthcare facilities in the state.
This apart, the CM also requested Premji to consider opening of the second campus of Ajim Premji University in Orissa. Further he wanted Wipro to play a significant role in the state’s education sector by setting up model schools.
Appreciating the efforts of Chief Minister, Premji, who was on his maiden visit to the state, said Wipro would soon expand its Bhubaneswar centre and consider investment in the health care sector in the state. He assured that he would certainly look into the prospects and government proposals.
