Bargarh/Subarnapur: Six people were killed and three others sustained critical injuries in separate incidents of lightning Sunday.
Two women, Subalaya Mirdha and Mini Mirdha, from Nileipali village under Attabira block of Bargarh district died while they were working in a paddy field.
Three others from the same village, who were also working in the paddy field, were admitted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Sambalpur.
In another incident, Subala Mahakud, a native of Luthurpanga in Subaranapur district was killed.
Lightning also claimed the life of Satya Bhoi of Ranipur Jharial village under Bangomunda block in Balangir district.
Meanwhile, a woman identified as Binodini Behera, from Benupada village in Pipili block of Puri district was killed while she was working in a farmland.
Lightning has claimed another life in Nayagarh district Sunday afternoon, reports said.
