Lakhanpur: In a shocking incident, a 9-year-old girl was reportedly raped by her 52-year-old neighbour at a village under Banaharpali police limits in Jharsuguda district Friday.
Police registered a case based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s elder brother and arrested the accused Tejuprasad Kusua. Police were interrogating the accused, while the girl was sent for a medical examination to the district headquarters hospital.
According to sources, the victim was a Class IV student in a local school. She was ready to go to school Friday morning. Meanwhile, the accused called her on some pretext and took her to his house where he allegedly raped her.
Meanwhile, the girl’s elder brother happened to cross the way and caught hold of Kusua and alerted the family members. Angry villagers thrashed him before handing him over to the police. PNN
