Bhubaneswar: Hockey Gangpur returned to the winning ways as they came from a goal down to spank Delhi Hockey 5-1 in a pool A match of the Hockey India Men’s Sub-Junior National Division-A Championships at Saifai, Uttar Pradesh, Saturday. However the sub-junior eves team lost their semifinals against Hockey Haryana 1-4 in the Hockey India Sub-Junior Women’s National Division A Championships at Hisar in, Haryana.
It was Delhi Hockey who took lead in the 32nd minute as Prashant found the back of the net. However, in the second half, Hockey Gangpur came back with all the guns blazing. In-form skipper Sudeep Chirmako scored a brace in the 40th and 51st minutes respectively while Sumit Kindo (46th), Deepak Ekka (48th) and Amandeep Lakra (64th) added to Delhi’s woes. In the women’s tournament Hockey Gangpur squandered an early lead to go down 1-4 to the Haryana girls. Manisha Oram was the scorer for Gangpur.
Wrestling meet
The State Wrestling Championships got underway at the Utkal Karate School here Saturday. One hundred sixty participants from different districts of Orissa are participating in the competition.
