Bhubaneswar: Claiming negligence in treatment, a transgender took away Rs 80,000 from a hospital here and fled. The accused Sachin Lawrence Elengical is a resident of Raigarh area in Maharashtra. She had undergone sex-change operation recently.
Sources said May 23, Sachin experienced pain in her genitals and got herself admitted at the Kalinga Hospital here. However, she alleged that the doctors had been derelict in their treatment for which she demanded `2 lakh as compensation, which the authorities denied.
It is alleged that she came to blows with the hospital staff. She took away around `80,000 from the hospital cash box and fled. The hospital authorities lodged a complaint with Chandrasekharpur police against her. Tuesday, police arrested Sachin and began probe. Later, it was revealed that she had collected lakhs from two other private hospitals in the city in a similar manner.
