Dhenkanal: There seems to be no end to sexual exploitation of minor girls at residential Sevashram schools in this district. A girl studying in Class IV at the Dhanianali Sevashram School was allegedly molested by her teacher last week.
The authorities tried to cover up the incident. The matter came to fore after the district welfare department launched a probe after receiving a complaint.
The incident happened a month after two teachers in Sarakhia Sevashram School including the headmaster were arrested for helping a minor girl deliver at a nursing home in Panikoili and the girl giving away the newborn to a childless couple.
The girl, studying in the school and residing in its hostel, was impregnated by a youth in her village during the vacation time, at her home. The headmaster and the teachers did not inform the parents and helped the girl deliver the child at a nursing home.
When contacted, district welfare officer Manas Ranjan Mishra refused to speak on the matter till the probe got completed. Gondia BDO Rabindra Kumar Sabat who conducted a probe also refused to speak on the issue, stating it to be a confidential matter.
