Sambalpur: A minor girl who was gangraped by five persons committed suicide by hanging at her house in Sasan police station area here Wednesday.
The girl took the extreme step in the absence of her family members. On reaching home, her family members rushed her to VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Burla where doctors pronounced her brought dead.
Police registered a case and started an investigation.
The victim was gangraped by five persons including her male friend and a minor. Police had swiftly acted in the case by arresting all the accused and submitting the chargesheet in the case within a fortnight, urging for trial in a fast track court.
